Salience Analytics Inc. offers a two-day course in analyzing client requirements, developing good solutions, and presenting those solutions in excellent proposals.  The course is presented by Dr. Mike Davenport based on his experience writing proposals for the past 20 years.  He has been teaching these skills to engineers and engineering managers since 1998, upgrading the content to reflect current information technology.

The course references sources from Aristotle to 21st century academic papers on psychology and social influence.  It includes lectures and exercises, according to the following outline:

Day 1:

· Winning the heart and mind.

· Solving the core problems.

· Designing the proposal.

· Managing the proposal team.

Day 2:

· Versions of the story.

· Drawing the readers into the story.

· Writing forceful sentences.

· Illustrating the story.

Participants are asked to submit writing samples one week before the course begins.  Maximum class size is normally 22.  

 

Good proposals are a strategic blend of text, illustration, and indexing.
